A Florida man who stole $600 worth of cigarettes from a convenience store has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Robert Spellman, 48, was convicted by an Escambia County jury in August of burglary and grand theft. His punishment was handed down Friday.

The Pensacola man stole 10 cartons of cigarettes from the locked manager's office of a Circle K convenience store in December. Police found him nearby, with the looted cigarettes, prosecutors said.

He had 14 prior felony convictions and 31 misdemeanor convictions, and was considered a habitual felony offender by the judge who sentenced him to 20 years, the Pensacola News Journal reported.
