Lake Orion teen donates soccer balls to sick kids around the world

LAKE ORION, Mich. – Meredith St. Henry isn't a typical soccer player.

The 17-year-old wants to share her love of the game with kids around the world. Her charity starts with a soccer ball.

The defense player has competed in tournaments across the country, but it's photos of young children waking up after surgery to find their very own soccer ball that make her a real champion.

After her mom and older sister went on a medical mission to Guatemala, the teen decided to start a charity called "Meredith's Movement."

People can donate new or gently-used soccer balls that will be shipped to children around the world. The response has been overwhelming.

The Lake Orion junior hasn't yet visited the countries she's making a little brighter, but says she's on a mission to give back. So far she's sent 100 soccer balls to children in Guatemala, Peru, Mexico and Honduras.

Next stop is Sudan.

She wants to expand the charity to include all types of humanitarian groups.

For more information on how to help, email her at MeredithsMovement@gmail.com.
