On Halloween night the last thing you want to do is spend time in the kitchen thinking about what to make for dinner. You want something quick and easy that will feed the whole family so you can focus on all the trick or treaters. So what is the perfect solution to this dilemma? Make chili!
It’s easy to make ahead of time, and keep warm as you go about your Halloween tasks. Chili can easily feed your whole family, and any friends your kids bring over, plus, it’s easy to clean up with a one-pot recipe. Cater Sous Chef David Parker, and Mirepoix Cooking School Chef Robert Kroll form Holiday Market in Royal Oak came in and shared some of their fun recipes for this classic meal, including a Bloody Mary Chili to get you in the Halloween spirit.
Beef Chili with Bloody Mary Mix
1 Tbs Vegetable oil
1 med Onion, diced
1.5 lbs. Ground beef
2 cups Spicy Bloody Mary mix
28 oz. Canned fire-roasted tomatoes
28 oz. Canned kidney beans, drained
4 Tbs. Chili powder
1 Tbs. garlic, minced
Saute onions. Once softened add in ground beef and brown. Add in the rest of the ingredients and mix. Bring it to a simmer and let it cook low and slow to let all the flavors marry. Serve warm and top it with whatever you’d like.
If you don’t feel like making your own chili, you can always pick some or a fresh soup from Holiday Market. Besides their soups and chilies, they said their lasagna is a big seller on Halloween.
