Shopping for a health plan can be overwhelming and the Department Of Insurance And Financial Services (DIFS) offers free help to navigate your way to the plan that’s right for you and your family. Open enrollment for coverage in 2020 runs November 1st through December 15th. During this time health insurance may be purchased through a health insurance company, a licensed insurance agent or the federal Health Insurance Marketplace. Michigan has nine insurers operating on the federal Health Insurance Marketplace this year. All plans begin on Janurary 1st, 2020. When shopping for your plan some things you should take into consideration include your financial status, coverage needs, participating providers, subsidies/tax credits and out-of-pocket expenses.
