He’s played with who?!

Chris Botti talks about his music, working with legends in the business, and his concerts, ahead of his stop in Detroit.

Chris Botti has played alongside legends like Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga, and Frank Sinatra. He’s played in iconic locations like Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, and the Sydney Opera House. He has also won a Grammy Award after being nominated four times before that. Now, Chris is bringing his music to Detroit and he talked with “Live In The D” host Jason Carr about his concerts and his collaborations.

When asked about working with legends in the business like Sting and Paul Simon, Botti says it’s all thanks to collaborations like those that has led to the solo career he now has. He says they are now good friends and what he learned from working with them has helped shape his career and what he has done on solo projects.

As for his concerts, Botti told Jason that they are not like what fans hear on the album. He says his albums create an “atmosphere” and are more romantic, but he wants to light up the stage during his concerts. You can expect to see more up tempo pieces that feature different instruments and performers in his band.

Jason also asked Botti about his Grammy Award and his reaction to winning. Botti had a different take on what it meant to win. To hear his answer, and learn more about the concert, watch the video above.
