LANSING, Mich. – A St. Clair County woman can’t believe she won $500,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Triple Bonus Cashword instant game.

Annette Reynolds, of Capac, bought her winning ticket at Dove’s Corner Market, located at 7847 East Imlay City Road in Imlay City. Capac is about 25 miles east of Lapeer.

“I bought the ticket Thursday, stuck it in my purse, and forgot I had it,” said the 59-year-old Reynolds. “I was digging through my purse looking for something on Saturday when I found the ticket.

“I started scratching while I was on the phone with my daughter, and I uncovered nine words. I said: ‘Hey! I just won $1,000! Unless I find one more word, then I win $500,000!’ As we continued talking I was double checking the ticket, and I couldn’t concentrate so I told my daughter I had to go. That is when I saw I had missed the letter ‘C’ in the word ‘watch’ and realized I really had won $500,000!”

Reynolds visited Lottery headquarters Tuesday to claim her big prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and take a trip to visit her brother out west.

“This means so much to my family. It’s such a relief to know that we can do all of the things we’ve been working so hard to do,” Reynolds said.

Players have won more than $35 million playing Triple Bonus Cashword, which launched in December 2016. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $500,000.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.

In 2016, Lottery players won nearly $817 million playing instant games.
