ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted Friday by a man who broke into her house in Orion Township, police said.
Police are searching for the attacker who broke into the home on Morgan Road near I-75 and Baldwin Road.
The houses on Morgan Road sit on lots larger than an acre, so residents don't hear what happens in their neighbors' homes.
Oakland County sheriff's officials said the 17-year-old girl was home alone soaking in her bathtub when a man broke into the house, went into the bathroom, pulled her out of the tub and brought her into the living room.
Police said the man threw the girl on the couch and started unbuttoning his pants.
The teen started kicking the man in the stomach, and the family's dogs started barking loudly from the backyard, police said. The man was scared off by the dogs, so he ran out of the home, police said.
The girl called the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, but the man was gone by the time they arrived at the home. Officials believe he took off in a car.
Police are searching for a white man in his 40s with a muscular build. He is described as 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall with dark eyebrows. He was wearing blue jeans, a gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt and a tan-colored cloth over his face.
Sheriffs believe the man might have been somebody who's known by the family. They don't believe the incident was random.
Officials are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oakland County Sheriff's Department at 248-858-4951.
