2 hurt, dog killed in suspected drunken boating crash on Lake St. Clair

Boat hits anchored vessel on Lake St. Clair, injuring two and killing dog; Shelby Township man faces charge

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two people were injured and their dog killed when their anchored vessel was hit by a powerboat Saturday evening on Lake St. Clair.

The accident took place about two miles off Harrison Township.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Department said a 47-year-old Roseville man, Ken Krokoskie, and his 47-year-old wife on the anchored boat were injured and their dog was killed in the collision.

"This time here they were just sitting there and that boat just went right over top of them," said Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.

Krokoskie still was hospitalized on Monday. His wife suffered only minor injuries.

Kevin Bushon, 34, of Shelby Township, was arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated and causing serious injury.

"He was over the legal limit. He didn't see it, didn't react to slow down," said Wickersham. "Just went over the top of the vessel."

He was held on $5,000 bond. He was released after posting bond on Sunday.

The crash remains under investigation.
