2 men involved in Ecorse afterhours club shooting sentenced to 43 years in prison

Chanel Weddington, 22, killed in gun battle outside illegal afterhours club

ECORSE, Mich. – The two men, who shot and killed a young nursing assistant outside a club in Ecorse, will spend the next 43 years in prison.

Johnny Lerue Davis Jr., 20, and Andrew Lee Ursery, 18, both of Detroit, were found guilty of second degree in April for the 2012 shooting that took place on 13th street.

Chanel Weddington, 22, was found murdered outside of the illegal afterhours club on October 7th.

Police said Davis and Ursery were involved in some kind of dispute at the club that spilled out into the parking lot. The men fired shots killing Weddington in the crosshairs.

Two others were also injured after more than 35 bullets rained down on bystanders.

Ecorse Council member Stacy Wheeler owns the building that housed the illegal club. Police have said she was inside the building when the fight broke out.
