WESTLAND, Mich. - Two schools in Westland were put on precautionary lockdown Monday just before 2 p.m. because of a developing situation at City Hall.

Police and bomb squad crews have surrounded the Westland City Hall, which is off Ford Road near North Carlson Street, on the report that there is a man inside claiming to have explosives.

John Glenn High School and the Career-Technical Center are on a precautionary lockdown as a result of the situation.

Procession, funeral held for fallen firefighter

The police situation comes the same day the community said goodbye to Wayne-Westland firefighter Brian Woehlke.

The 29-year-old was killed last week battling a fire at a strip mall on Wayne Road.

He had only been with the department for 10 months -- and was the department's first casualty in the line of duty.

His funeral was held in Dearborn.
