SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Christmas came early for some Metro Detroit children who had a chance to shop with a police officer on Thursday.
A select group of underprivileged children enjoyed a holiday shopping spree thanks to the Target Shop with a Cop program. The program pairs an officer with a deserving child to go shopping for holiday gifts. The kids were given $100 gift cards to spend on themselves and their families.
This year the Southfield Police Department partnered with the Northland Target. Children are recommended for the program by police department members, school employees, social agencies and family shelters.
