Crash kills woman headed to wedding reception

Police searching for another vehicle involved in crash

DEARBORN – Two sisters of a bride on their way to her wedding reception were thrown from their vehicle when it collided with another car at Michigan Avenue and Greenfield Road in Dearborn on Christmas Day.

Police said a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt and a Jeep collided.

The Jeep was driven by a 20-year-old Dearborn man and the Cobalt by a 19-year-old woman.

The collision caused the driver of the Jeep to lose control and strike a building, throwing the two women passengers. The women were identified as sisters of a bride on their way to her reception.

A 22-year-old Dearborn woman inside the Jeep was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The other, a 21-year-old, is listed in critical condition, police said.

The Jeep was reportedly driven by the brother of the bride.  There was no word on his condition.

Police said they were searching for a third vehicle, a Dodge Charger or another Jeep, which might have either been involved in the crash or witnessed it.

At this time, police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
