Victim in deadly Dearborn crash identified

22-year-old woman killed on way to wedding reception

DEARBORN – Dearborn police have released the identity of a woman who was killed Sunday in a vehicle crash on the way to her sister's wedding reception.

Eitedac Saleh Al-Gaithi, 22, died in the crash. Her sister, 21-year-old Amain Sleh-Al Mmari, is hospitalized in critical condition.

Police said the sisters of a bride on their way to her wedding reception were thrown from their Jeep when it collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt on Christmas Day at Michigan Avenue and Greenfield Road in Dearborn.

The Jeep was driven by a 20-year-old Dearborn man and the Cobalt by a 19-year-old woman.

The collision caused the driver of the Jeep to lose control and strike a building, throwing Al-Gaithi and Mmari.

There was no word on the Jeep driver's condition. Police said he was the brother of the bride.

Police were searching for a third vehicle, a Dodge Charger or another Jeep, which might have been involved in the crash or witnessed it.

Police did not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
