Detroit puppy rescue to be featured on Animal Planet

Rescue will air Jan. 20 on ‘Confessions: Animal Hoarding'

DETROIT – The rescue of 17 puppies from a Detroit home will hit cable airwaves this month on Animal Planet.

The Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) was chosen by the producers of Animal Planet's documentary series Confessions: Animal Hoarding to rescue several dogs in August of 2011.

The series explores stories of people who own more pets then they can care for.

The rescue will air Jan. 20 at 10 p.m. EST.

A total of 17 dogs were treated and 14 of those were taken to the MARL shelter for care. After receiving medical attention, the puppies were placed up for adoption. Each made it to homes in metro Detroit.

"MARL staff and volunteers worked with this local family and encouraged them to voluntarily make the humane choice for these dogs who were in need of a much better quality of life," says MARL executive director, Kayla Allen, "we are very happy that MARL was able to provide these dogs with the kind of future they truly deserve."
