Livingston County family offers reward to find man's killer

Man,47, found shot to death in Iosco Township home

IOSCO TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Livingston County Sheriff's Department is investigating the shooting death of 47-year-old Ron Hauser.

Hauser's brother, Steve Hauser, found him shot to death Saturday night after telephone calls to his brother went unanswered.

The family now is offering a $10,000 reward to find the killer.

"This is a life-changing event. Life will never be the same," said Steve Hauser.

Ron Hauser owned a tree trimming business in Canton Township for almost 20 years. The Sheriff said the house was not ransacked, so robbery is being ruled out as a motive. Ron Hauser was more likely targeted.

"(The killer) needs to come forward," said Steve Hauser. "This is not right. This is a complete nightmare. If you haven't been through it, you don't know."

Ron Hauser lived alone in a secluded house in Iosco Township, where only 1,500 people live and where no one has been murdered in more than 20 years.

The Sheriff has few leads and is interviewing anyone who had contact including family, acquaintances, employees and customers.

Anyone with information can call the Livingston County Sheriff's Department at 517-546-8477or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP.
