Waterford police recover items stolen from cars

4 accused in thefts from cars

WATERFORD, Mich. – Waterford police said they have recovered a bunch of items taken during a recent string of car break-ins.

Police released the picture of the goods Tuesday and said four people stand accused in the thefts.

Police said the four –- an 18-year-old from Waterford, a 16-year-old from Pontiac, a 14-year-old from Waterford and a 16-year-old from Waterford –- were taken into custody Monday in the Ashton Pines apartment complex after someone reported seeing them peeking into cars.

Police said the 18-year-old is on probation for a retail fraud conviction and admitted he was stealing in order to re-sell the items for profit.

He is being held in jail, pending charges. The juveniles were released to their parents, pending charges.
