DETROIT – A 52-year-old man pleaded guilty on Thursday to the mutilation of a woman's body.

James Bommer, of Gibraltar, told a judge that he and 32-year-old Pamela Prpich had been doing drugs. He took a nap afterward and when he woke up, Prpich was dead, he said.

He said he did not call 911 because she was already dead.

Prpich's remains were found in August, 2011 in a suitcase placed in a creek along West Jefferson Avenue near Gibraltar Road.

Some of her remains were also found at Bommer's home.

He also pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and to a fourth habitual offender charge.

His bond was set at $500,000. He will be sentenced Jan. 23.
