Michigan Chronicle publisher dies at 78

DETROIT – A funeral was held Friday morning for Sam Logan, the publisher of Michigan Chronicle for more than four decades.

Logan died this past Wednesday. He was 78 years old.

Friday's funeral was held at Greater Grace Temple on 7 Mile Road in Detroit.

Local and state leaders, and members of the broadcasting and journalism community, were in attaendance to pay tribute to an iconic Michigan journalist.

Gov. Rick Snyder spoke about Logan's commitment to Detroit and its people.

"Sam loved Detroit," Snyder said. "He loved the community. He cared about everyone and he really wanted to make a difference, and he did make a difference."
