He was fired on March 13th for reasons that have not been officially released.

Sources tell Local 4 that Hayes may have abused his power concerning a rival person who also sought to be chief of the department.

The Public Safety Commission rescinded the firing of Hayse today reinstating him to his former rank of lieutenant.

"This is far from over. Quite frankly what transpired in there was a kangaroo court," said Hayse's attorney David Gorcyca. "They violated his due process rights, his union rights, his contractual rights. This is far from over. If anything this is just beginning."

More hearings are scheduled over this matter.
