Police: Wayne State student lied about sex assault

Woman claimed she was attacked on campus, now charged with filing false report


DETROIT – A Wayne State University student who reported she was sexually assaulted on campus is now charged with filing a false police report.

The woman claimed she was attacked Wednesday in a parking lot near the Matthaei building.

Police reviewed security camera video and said her story did not check out.

When officers questioned the woman about the attack, she admitted that she had lied. 

She has not yet been identified.
