Detroit Mayor Dave Bing returns to office Monday after health issues
68-year-old had undergone surgery for perforated intestine
DETROIT – Detroit Mayor Dave Bing is back City Hall following his recovery from surgery.
The 68-year-old Bing returned to the office on Monday morning as expected.
Bing had surgery for a perforated intestine in late March and then returned to the hospital on April 4 because of blood clots in his lungs.
Bing's health problems occurred while the city and the state of Michigan were working on a deal to fix Detroit's finances.
The pact calls for a chief financial officer, a program manager and a nine-member board to oversee spending.
