Peeping Tom strikes in Canton Township: Teenage girl is victim

Canton Township girl tells police man entered home, asked to see her naked

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Neighbors in Canton Township are on alert after police have received a report of a man peeping into rooms.

According to police, the peeping Tom has his eyes on Canton Township women. His latest victim is a teenage girl at her home in the Stoneybrooke Apartments near Joy Road between Haggerty Road and Interstate 275.

"We're gonna keep an eye out," said neighbor Darlene Evans. "I don't know who this guy is."

The teen told police the man came into her family's apartment after her mother left for work. He peeped into her room and asked to see her naked. The girl told him she was going to call police and he promptly fled the home.

She described the man as in his 30s with strawberry blonde hair.

"It's scary. Very scary," said Evans.

The teen also told police about another occasion when she saw a man looking through her window.

"She'll be devastated for life," said neighbor Martha McCallister. "It'll be something that will be awfully hard for her to overcome."

Police detectives tell Local 4 they have not received any other reports of the peeping Tom. However, officers are keeping their eyes on the apartment complex in case the man returns.

"I'm glad that I know because I have a daughter as well," said Evans. "So, I will let my family know and neighbors, and then we can kind of watch out for one another."

Anyone with information on the man or other incidents should call the Canton Township Police Department at 734-394-5400.
