Kona Grill hopes to reopen Saturday after fire

Spokeswoman says no one was hurt, restaurant suffered smoke, water damage


TROY, Mich. – A popular restaurant in Troy says it plans to reopen this weekend following an early morning fire on Wednesday.

A fire broke out on the northwest wide of Kona Grill's patio.

In a statement, the restaurant's vice president of operations, Jenny Elkins, said no one was hurt but the building was damaged by smoke and water.

Elkins said the restaurant is working on repairs and plans to reopen Saturday.

"The support that we have received from the community has been overwhelming. We thank the community of Troy, MI for their support and look forward to seeing everyone back in our restaurant soon," Elkins said.

No word on what caused the fire.
