Allen Park mayor, Michigan treasury to discuss if city needs emergency manager
Allen Park faces more than $4 million deficit
ALLEN PARK, Mich. – The mayor of Allen Park will meet with the Michigan Treasury Department on Wednesday to discuss why the city does not need an emergency manager.
Or does it?
The meeting comes after a millage proposal to cover bond payments for the failed movie studio was defeated by voters Tuesday night.
For the 2012/2013 fiscal year, Allen Park faces a deficit of more than $4 million.
On Wednesday, Mayor William Matakas will propose the millage goes back on the ballot in November. He hopes voters will reconsider the proposal so the city can avoid a state-appointed emergency manager.
