Pontiac interim superintendent expected to announce job cuts

State withholds aid until Pontiac Public Schools cut $15 million from budget

PONTIAC, Mich. – Friday could be a bleak day for employees in the Pontiac Public Schools District.

The interim schools superintendent, Walter Burt, is expected to announce a new round of job cuts. The state of Michigan is withholding aid payments until $15 million is cut from the district's budget.

Burt has suggested letting go some secondary school teachers, principals and special education teachers.

That is in addition to 95 layoffs which were announced after spring break.
