Ann Arbor police found 86-year-old Ron Mason inside his home on Covington Drive on Saturday.

Neighbors told Local 4's Chauncy Glover that Mason had lived in the home for more than 10 years.

"His yard was his pride and joy," said neighbor Marilyn Tower. "He kind of got me to get out here and do mine. I think he was sort of an inspiration to people."

Tower said she was in shock when police arrived at the home to investigate the murder.

Neighbors said police arrested Ron Mason's own daughter in the crime, but police would only confirm that they have a suspect in custody.

"It's unbelievable that this happened because he was such a nice man," said Tower.

Mason used to work at a nearby pharmacy and would deliver medicine to the elderly and group homes.

"You couldn't ask for a better neighbor. A lot of people are going to miss him," said Tower.

Police would not give more information on what happened inside Mason's home.

An arraignment could happen as early as Monday morning.
