More than 400 American Legion bikers stop in Garden City during 3-day charity ride

Annual Legacy Run stops in Garden City Wednesday

GARDEN CITY, Mich. – More than 400 American Legion bikers, almost all war veterans, rolled into Garden City Wednesday afternoon along their ride for a good cause.

The annual ride is called the Legacy Run, and it's quite the road trip. Riders started the journey Aug. 21st in upstate New York.

They end the ride on Thursday in Indiana where the group will have travelled more than 750 miles through five states.

Along the way, the bikers have raised money for the children of men and women killed in military service since 9/11

"The Legacy Run stopped here today because the American Legion Riders Club was actually founded here in Garden City back in 1993," said Bill Kaledas, of American Legion Post 396.

The riders are from all over the country and hundreds of people welcomed them to Michigan.

Police from Wayne, Romulus and Garden City escorted the procession to an American Legion post in Garden City.
