Levin, Stabenow announce funding for Allen Park Fire Department

Money will help Allen Park hire six firefighters

WASHINGTON – Michigan Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow have announced federal funding that will help the City of Allen Park hire firefighters to protect the city and surrounding communities.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency grant will help Allen Park hire six firefighters.

"This critical federal assistance will help ensure that residents of Allen Park and surrounding communities continue to receive the fire protection they need and deserve," Levin said.

"Our firefighters provide critical, courageous service to communities across Michigan," said Stabenow.  "This grant provides the resources they need to perform their duties safely and protect the public."

The $1.28 million grant comes from FEMA's Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response, or SAFER, program. The program helps local communities maintain adequate protection from fire and fire-related hazards.
