Man shot to death outside Detroit's Club Celebrity

Family says gunmen will not get away with shooting, killing 29-year-old Corey Chester outside Detroit nightclub

DETROIT – Family members called Corey Chester a "good-ole mamma's boy."

Now, Ms. Chester is without her son.

"When I would call him and tell him I wanted a banana pudding, he would cook it for me," she said.

The 29-year-old Detroit man was gunned down Thursday night outside Club Celebrity on Plymouth Road on the city's west side.

"He wasn't out in the streets, pants all sagging. He was the man his mamma raised him to be," a family member said.

Police investigators said Chester was talking with two friends after walking them to their car when men tried to rob the women. Chester was caught in the middle and was shot in the back.

"When I heard this, I jumped up," his mother said. "I was crying so hard because he's been so good to us."

Chester's family has a message for the gunmen.

"God's gonna get you. You're not gonna get away."

Detroit police ask anyone with information on the shooting at Celebrity to give them a call at 313-596-2200.
