35th District Court in Plymouth evacuated, closed for the day after gas leak

No injuries reported, building on Plymouth Road being aired out

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Plymouth police say 35th District Court on Plymouth Road will remain closed Thursday after being evacuated because of a gas leak.

Arriving court employees were told to leave the three-story suburban Detroit court building about 7:45 a.m. after some workers reported smelling a natural gas odor.

No injuries have been reported and police said the building is being aired out.

Consumers Energy is on the scene.

Spokeswoman Debra Dodd says contractors who worked on a boiler at the courthouse Wednesday are returning to see if that could be the origin of the leak.
