Teen shot at Detroit gas station is a high school senior, 3 are in custody

Shooting takes place at Ryan, 7 Mile roads near Pershing High School

DETROIT – A 17-year-old girl was shot Wednesday afternoon near Pershing High School on Detroit's east side.

Local 4 has learned that three people are in custody in connection with the shooting, which happened during a fight right across the street from the school at a BP gas station.

The scene is at Ryan and 7 Mile roads.

"Somebody pulled out a gun and started shooting. That's when my cousin got in the midst of it and she got shot," said one witness.

Local 4 has learned he girl that was shot was hit in the leg.

She is believed to be a senior at Pershing High School.

The girl has been taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Parents rushed to the scene to make sure their son or daughter was okay.

"It's just sad that these are our young people and this is what's happening. This is a wake up call. Every parent and every adult out here has a responsibility. We all have to step up and do something because if we do not, it is not going to get any better," said one parent who picked up her child shortly after the shooting.
