DETROIT – Another day of deliberations is done in the Kwame Kilpatrick federal corruption trial and still no verdict in sight.
Aside from the late afternoon activity outside the Theodore Levin US Courthouse in downtown Detroit involving people protesting Gov. Rick Snyder's implementation of an Emergency Financial Manager for the city, day 13 of jury deliberations inside the courthouse proved to be an otherwise very quiet day.

Sightings of Kwame Kilpatrick and his lawyer James Thomas at the courthouse Wednesday as well as the jurors ending deliberations almost an hour and 1/2 early that same afternoon had many wondering if a verdict wasn't imminent today.

There were also no further questions for Judge Nancy Edmunds and the trial attorneys.
Although the jury has asked to see many exhibits, they have only interrupted deliberations twice for questions.
The first, on the third day of deliberations, had to do with Count 3 Extortion pertaining to an amendment to DWSD sewer lining contract 1368. The second question, on the sixth day of deliberations, sought to clarify similar wording in Count 1- RICO-Racketeering Conspiracy and Count 7 Extortion on Outfalls contract DWS 849.
The three defendants in this case are charged with running a criminal enterprise through the mayor's office to enrich themselves. Jurors are deliberating a verdict on charges that include racketeering, extortion, bribery, mail and wire fraud, attempted extortion and filing false taxes.
Kwame Kilpatrick is facing 30 counts, Bobby Ferguson faces 11 and Bernard Kilpatrick faces 4.
Jurors will return to the courthouse Friday morning to begin day 14 of deliberations at 9 a.m.
