3 found dead in house on Detroit's west side

Bodies of 2 women, 1 man found in home on Coyle Street in west Detroit; young children in home at time of killings

DETROIT – Detroit police said two children were inside the house where three people were found shot to death Thursday morning on the city's west side.

Police said a baby, no age specified, and a 5-year-old girl were unharmed when two women and a man were killed inside a house in the 11300 block of Coyle Street.

The victims are all in their 20s and the two women are related. Detroit police said a 911 call was made about 9:30 a.m. about "victims found shot inside the house."

However, a 911 call was made about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night about shots fired near a home in the 11900 block of Coyle Street. Police responded to that area, investigated but found no problems.

"There were some shots heard mid-evening yesterday and apparently some family members were notified and they came to check on them and discovered them," said Detroit police inspector Dwayne Blackmon.

The victims all appear to have suffered gunshot wounds, police said.

Mack McSwin, who said he was a friend of the man who died, said he wasn't aware of any trouble the victim was in or why someone would want to kill him.

"He stayed to himself. He was just over here with a friend of ours and got murdered. It's a hard subject to even talk about right now," McSwin said.
