Boil water advisory issued in Walled Lake

Walled Lake Department of Public Works coordinator says construction at meter pit prompts boil water advisory through Friday

WALLED LAKE, Mich. – The Walled Lake Department of Public Works has issued a city-wide boil water advisory for all customers through Friday.

The department's water coordinator says construction at the water main meter pit has led to extremely low water pressure.

The city's water pressure has fallen below the state of Michigan's minimum requirement. The boil water advisory has been issued as a precaution.

There is no evidence that the water is unsafe to drink but by law the city must issue a boil water advisory.

Residents are asked to call City Hall if they have any questions about the boil water advisory.

Walled Lake schools issue note to parents about water

Leaders at the Walled Lake Consolidated School District say school drinking fountains will be out of service until otherwise notified. Parents are encouraged to send children to school with their own water.

Drinking water and cups will be provided at Guest Elementary, Walled Lake Elementary, the Community Education Center and the Educational Services Center.

Water at the schools can be used for washing hands. However, hand sanitizer will be provided to be used after hand washing, as a precaution.
