Huntington Woods won't change event name due to bombing sensitivity
63% say name should stay for another year
HUNTINGTON WOODS – The Boston Marathon tragedy won't force a name change for Huntington Woods' Run/Walk BOOM!!!
A committee of residents considered changing the name of their annual fundraiser for the city's Fourth of July fireworks after concerns surfaced about potential sensitivity about its name.
But, Organizers of the fundraiser plan to keep the event's name after reconsidering it.
Last year's inaugural Huntington Woods event attracted hundreds of participants, raising thousands of dollars.
63% of people who took a survey about changing the name of "Run/Walk BOOM!!!" indicated that the name should stay – at least for this year.
The committee turned to a public poll for more input before spending money to reprint brochures, banners, trophies and get a new website address for its one-mile and 5K events.
