West Bloomfield School District cancels classes Thursday

Power outage affected area of Orchard Lake, Walnut Lake roads

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – The West Bloomfield School District has canceled classes Thursday because of a power outage.

The district says four of its nine schools -- West Bloomfield High School, Orchard Lake Middle School, Doherty Elementary and Ealy Elementary -- don't have power.

According to DTE Energy, power went out at 6:30 a.m. to about 900 people in the area of Orchard Lake and Walnut Lake roads.

Any students that were already at school will be taken back home by bus.

UPDATE:

As of 10:30 a.m., DTE said it has restored most of the power and everything would be back by noon.

They said they believe an interruption by an animal may have caused the animal.
