MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A 48-year-old Macomb County man has been arrested on charges of drunken driving and child endangerment after failing a field sobriety test with four kids in the car.
On Sunday, Macomb Sheriff Deputies were called to the area of Meadow Creek Blvd in the Village of New Haven to be on the lookout for a a possible intoxicated driver. Deputies located a green Dodge Dakota pick-up truck as it travelled on 27 Mile Road.
The vehicle had several equipment violations and the driver was stopped.
Upon talking to the driver, Stephen Simone, it was apparent that he had been drinking. Deputies noticed three empty vodka bottles on the floor of the truck. There were four children in the vehicle at the time of this traffic stop. After administering field sobriety tests, deputies arrested Simone for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated and Child Endangerment.
Their mother was contacted and the children were turned over to her. After being transported to the Macomb County Jail, he was given a breath test with results of .29% blood-alcohol content.
His children are ages 15, 14, 11 and 8.
