911 call: Children found left alone, crying in mother's car in Rochester Hills
Troy woman arrested, may face charges after her children are found alone, crying in car
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – A Troy mother is accused of leaving two of her children alone in a car in Rochester Hills.
A passerby heard crying coming from a car in the parking lot of a strip mall at the corner of Rochester and Avon roads. The children can be heard crying on the 911 call.
911: What's the location of your emergency?
Caller: Hello, I didn't know what number to call. I'm at a parking lot and a store and there are two kids in the car -- they're all by themselves. And the window's only open a crack. They're both crying hard. Yeah, they're scared to death."
Oakland County Sheriff's deputies responded to the call. The passerby told deputies the children had been in the car for at least 20 minutes.
Deputies arrested the 35-year-old mother when she returned from filling out a job application in one of the nearby stores. It's not clear if the mother will face charges.
According to Sheriff's deputies, the mother told the kids she left them in the car because they were sleeping when she arrived at the strip mall.
The children have been placed in their father's custody.
