Brandon Township man sentenced to life without parole for death of 4-month-old

Oakland County medical examiner: Infant died from blunt force trauma to head

PONTIAC, Mich. – A 27-year-old Brandon Township man has been sentenced to life without parole in connection with the death of his girlfriend's 4-month-old son.

The sentence was handed down to Donald Raleigh Wednesday morning.

The 4-month-old suffered severe blunt force trauma to the head in October 2012. Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the boy was found lying on the floor of a the family's home. He was rushed to Genesys Hospital, but was pronounced dead.

Raleigh's 4-year-old daughter also was in the home at the time, but was not hurt.

Raleigh has an extensive criminal history dating back to 2002 when he was a juvenile. In 2003, he was convicted of three counts of breaking and entering with intent, and safe breaking. He was sentenced to 2 to 20 years in prison. He was paroled from the State of Michigan prison system in 2005. He was discharged from parole in 2009.
