Michigan State Police: Woman hit by car, killed on Southfield Freeway

Police say woman was walking in northbound lanes near Joy Road when she was hit

DETROIT – Michigan State Police said a woman was killed early Wednesday morning on the Southfield Freeway in Detroit.

Police said the woman was hit just before 5 a.m. by a car while she was walking in the northbound lanes near Joy Road.

The woman was taken to Sinai-Grace Hospital, but pronounced dead.

Police said they aren't sure why the woman was on the freeway and are still working to identify her.

The driver in the car who hit the woman wasn't hurt and has not been charged.
