Monroe County Sheriff's Office says it's not behind soliciting phone calls

Sheriff Dale Malone says although they support D.A.R.E, they aren't raising money for them

MONROE COUNTY – The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said it's not them calling the community about raising money for the D.A.R.E. program.

Sheriff Dale Malone said he's been getting reports of someone identifying themselves as an officer in his office calling people for money.

Malone said that although his office supports the program, no one affiliated with his office is behind the calls.

Malone said the Fraternal Order of Police in Monroe is soliciting for a dance in the near future, but that has nothing to do with the Sheriff's Office either.
