Semi-truck driver dies after crash on I-94 in Taylor

Police say truck struck utility pole, went down side of freeway, crashed

TAYLOR, Mich. – Police say the driver of a semi-truck that crashed along Interstate 94 has died.

The incident happened Friday at 8:20 p.m. along eastbound I-94 near Telegraph Road.

According to police, the truck, which was hauling fruit, was traveling eastbound on I-94 when it struck a utility pole, went down the side of the freeway and crashed.

The westbound lanes of I-94 have reopened after they were closed shortly after the crash. Eastbound I-94 and the ramp at Telegraph Road remained closed to traffic until Saturday morning.

The highway was reopened around 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

Michigan State Police said they are continuing to investigate Friday evening's crash.

No further information is available at this time and the name of the driver is being withheld until positive identification is made, according to police.
