2 armed robberies reported in Ann Arbor within past 24 hours

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan Police Department is alerting students about two armed robberies, one of which was on the Ann Arbor campus.

A visitor to the campus reported two men approached him and two friends about 3:15 a.m. Friday at the West Hall arch at 1085 University Avenue. One suspect had a handgun and demanded money. The victims fled.

Moreover, the Ann Arbor Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at an apartment in the 900 block of Church Street. Two men entered the apartment about 10 p.m. Thursday. One of the men had a handgun and demanded drugs.

Police have released these descriptions -- as described by witnesses-- of the suspects in the campus armed robbery:

Suspect one: A Middle Eastern or black man about 6 feet tall, 160 pounds with curly hair. He was wearing a gray tank top and shorts with tattoos on both arms.

Suspect two: A Middle Eastern or black man about 5 feet 7 or 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds and muscular. He was wearing red clothes.

No suspect descriptions have been released for the off-campus crime.
