Bloomfield Township police: Family of 6 was tied up in home, robbed by 2 masked men

Family members not hurt in Wednesday night incident on Manchester Court in Wabeek neighborhood

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Bloomfield Township family was tied up inside their home and robbed Wednesday night by two masked men who were armed with a gun and scissors.

Officers found the family shaken up but not physically harmed in their home on Manchester Court in the Wabeek neighborhood -- which is off Long Lake Road between Franklin and Middlebelt roads.

Police said family members told them two men entered the house through an unlocked door, took them to a bedroom and tied them up while the home was ransacked.

"They made their way through and unlocked door, obviously showed a handgun at that point, took the family upstairs, tied them up and covered them with a blanket so they couldn't see what was going on," said Sgt. Tim Abbo.

The men got away with cash and jewelry.

Police said the men were wearing all black, facemasks, hats, hooded sweatshirts and pants.

One had a silver handgun and the other a pair of scissors.

Local 4 is told the men were inside the house for nearly 2 hours. The men lost the keys to the getaway car inside the home, but they eventually found the keys and fled. The getaway car sat outside the home for hours. Police hope someone spotted it.

"They ransacked the house, taking money and jewelry at an estimated value, at this point, of over $100,000," said Abbo.
