Clinton Township police: Man in custody after woman, girl killed

Tina Geiger, 11-year-old daughter stabbed inside their apartment

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. –

Clinton Township police have a man in custody following the slayings of a mentally impaired woman and her 11-year-old daughter.

A candlelight vigil was held Wednesday evening for the 47-year-old mother, Tina Geiger, and her daughter, Chrissy. They were found stabbed to death Tuesday inside their apartment at Parkway Village.

Sources tell Local 4 the person of interest lived near the victims and knew them. He was taken into custody just before midnight Tuesday.

A makeshift memorial with flowers and stuffed animals has been created at their home. Many people who knew the two told Local 4 the mother and daughter were inseparable and loved by all.

"Chrissy, I would hug and kiss every day and told her I loved her," said Glenda Delong, the family's former caretaker. "It's very upsetting that anybody could do this to them."

The mother and daughter had no car and walked everywhere, neighbors said. The highlight of their day was walking up to the nearby 7-Eleven for a grape Slurpee.

"You'd see them every day, walking to the store. They'd speak to us. We'd give them loose change," said neighbor Maurice Williams.

Neighbors say they found it strange that for the past few days no one had seen the mother and daughter out walking. Police say the mother's caretaker alerted the apartment manager. He went to check on the two and made the horrific discovery.

"They would do anything for anybody, and that's what I'm kind of afraid of. Maybe she opened her door to somebody out of kindness?" Delong said. "I can't imagine her having any enemies."
