Romulus police: 14-year-old girl sexually assaulted near school

Police seek person of interest after 14-year-old girl is held at knifepoint, raped her near Halecreek Elementary school

ROMULUS, Mich. – Romulus police are investigating the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on Thursday near Halecreek Elementary School on Harrison Road.

Police say the girl was waiting for friends at the school when she was approached by a man who had a knife. He held the knife to her throat and said he would kill her if she yelled or screamed.

The man grabbed her arm and forced her to walk to the north side of the building. He forced her behind a wall out of public view where he cut off her bra and raped her, police say.

The suspect fled on foot after the assault.

The suspect is described as a white man about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 170 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt, dark shorts that were below the knees and blue tennis shoes. He also was wearing a dark mask over his face.
