Suspect in custody for double murder in Port Huron

Melissa Ichenberg, Daniel McRoberts found dead Tuesday on Riverview Street

PORT HURON, Mich. – Port Huron police said they have a man in custody in connection with the murders of two people who were found dead in an apartment.

Police said the 31-year-old Port Huron resident was taken into custody Thursday and is being held at the St. Clair County Jail.

His name will be released after his arraignment.

Melissa Ichenberg, 26, and Daniel McRoberts, 29, were found by police Tuesday evening after responding to a complaint of a suspicious incident at the Gratiot Village apartment complex.

Friends told Local 4 McRoberts had recently moved in with Ichenberg when he became homeless.

Autopsy results for the two are pending.

Ichenberg's six-year-old daughter was apparently in the house when the killings occurred, but was not aware of what happened.

Neighbors said she was playing in the neighborhood and had said her mother was sleeping.

Ichenberg also had a 10-year-old daughter, who was visiting family members in Pennsylvania. McRoberts had two children of his own.
