Cooler today with a slow warm up

Temperatures are cooler than average

DETROIT – A morning cold front will knock temps down as the winds pick up a bit making it feel even more crisp out there this morning.

The breezes will pick up this morning from the NW 10-15 mph and will continue throughout the day.

It's not cold, but it's much cooler than average with highs today barely making into the low 70s.

We will see partly to mostly cloudy skies with a few isolated light rain showers mostly in the mid afternoon. But a few raindrops may fall before that especially up north closer to The Thumb region.

But the cooler temps are the bigger weather story here over the next couple of days. The average high temperature around Detroit in mid August is 82 degrees, so we are 10 degrees cooler than that.

We will see more Sunshine on Wednesday but it will be an even cooler start with lows around 52 degrees in the city and 40s in the suburbs tomorrow morning. High temps will only get into the low and maybe mid 70s with sunshine mixed with a few clouds and lighter winds.

It will be a slow warm up but a very comfortable week. By the end of the work week and into the weekend, temps will be near 80 degrees again.
