2 gunmen sought after fatal shooting on Detroit's east side

10 children inside home during shooting reported not hurt

DETROIT – Investigators are looking for two gunmen after a fatal shooting at a home on Detroit's east side.

Sources told Local 4 a fight broke out Saturday night just after 6:30 p.m. at a home on Peyton.

A man who didn't want to be identified said his child's mother lives at the home. He was coming to pick up his daughter and was caught in the chaos.

"They were arguing and trying to fight the female," he said.

He said a man who was drunk threw a child's scooter through the front window, went inside the home and started fighting with another man inside the house.

"He started shooting at the man," he said. "One dude just went crazy."

The man told Local 4 that 10 children, including his daughter, were in the house taking cover as a gun fight erupted.

"Dad talking about the kids being in the house," he said. "The kids running around, crying, running up on me."

The man in the house fired back, shooting the other man. Authorities said he was taken to the hospital and none of the children, ranging from infants to 12 years old, were hurt.

"It's all petty. People drink and don't know how to hold liquor," the man said. "The guy who shot fired back. You ask me, it's self-defense."
