Lake Orion man hit, killed on M-24

Police not yet releasing 60-year-old victim's name

LAKE ORION, Mich. – Lake Orion police said a 60-year-old man was killed Sunday night when he was hit by a car on M-24.

Police said a witness called 911 about 8:30 p.m. to report a man walking in and out of the roadway outside a Valero gas station at 415 South Broadway Street (M-24).

Police said officers were there within two minutes, but the man had already been hit and was lying in the roadway being tended to by a witness who was an off-duty nurse.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 17-year-old driver who hit the man stayed at the scene. No charges have been issued.

Police said they are investigating whether the man had intoxicated. His name is not yet being released.
